Polaris Challenge - Rother Valley Event
Polaris Challenge
The Polaris Challenge is back, now in its new digital format. For the first event, we are running a Mini Challenge set in the Rother Valley Country Park (S26 5PQ) on the weekend 1-2nd October 16 as park of the JeJames Cyclefest Demo Day.

The Polaris Challenge is a score event not based on a fixed route, you decide where to go. Over the event area a series of controls are laid out, each control has a value; some have the value of zero so not worth visiting, others have higher values if they are difficult to reach and there are many between. When you select an event its downloaded to your phone. along with the locations of all the controls plus the start and finish. You also get a map and gpx file emailed to you so you can plan your potential route. The crucial bit that is missing is the control values, these you receive after you have scanned the Start control, this makes it equal for everyone in terms of time to plan and execute your route.

To enter the event :
1. Download the APP to your mobile device (QR code below)
2. Click the link below to download the map and GPX file
3. Turn up to the event at a time that suits you.

Description Tech Spec
This is the first of the Short course Polaris Challenge Events. The event comprises of a series of controls which you have to navigate to (find) within 1 hour. Each control has a value and the object of the event is to score as many points as possible within the allotted time. If you are over time points are deducted for every minute you are late. The controls are located on or near tracks and trails so ideally this should be attempted on a gravel bike or mountain bike.
As the Polaris Challenge has now moved to a digital format (Android only at the moment) you will need to download the App to your phone. Although this App is currently in testing it is available on Google Play = Search for Polaris or Polaris Challenge, look for the Polaris "P" in green

Once you have the App you will need to register and this will give you access to all the events we currently have set up. For the weekend of 01-02 October 2016 we have set a special course around Rother Valley, so that will be the one to load.

To get all the information add the event to the Shopping Cart, there is nothing to pay but complete the checkout procedure. We need to authorise the item and then you will then be sent an email with all the details of the event including a map which you can print for planning purposes (we will also have maps available on the day).

I remember the first one...if it’s as good as that you will really have a great time.  Tip: "don't bite off more than you can chew"...the negative points for being late are very aggressive !
